An Arbroath man threw a television set to the ground after an argument about takeaway food with his fiance.
Martin Hampsall, 44, also assaulted Susie Allen by seizing her by the body and pulling her to the floor in the incident which occurred at an address on Ferrier Street, Carnoustie, on September 5.
Hampsall, of Warddykes Avenue in Arbroath, admitted the assault and another charge of behaving in an aggressive manner and causing fear and alarm at Forfar Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
Depute fiscal Charmaine Gilmartin said: “The couple had attended at a wedding and they had consumed alcohol before returning to the locus at 1am.
“The complainer had given the accused money to go to a takeaway and get some food.
“He did that but returned with food for only one person. The complainer was unhappy that he hadn’t got food for her.
“He threw the food across the bedroom, picked up a television set from the wall and threw it on the floor and also threw a cup, causing it to break.
“He then approached the complainer and seized her by the body and pulled her to the floor. She had grazing to her right elbow and reddening to the side of her face. She didn’t need medical attention.”
She added that Ms Allan contacted police who found the premises in a “state of disarray”.
Defence agent Bob Bruce described the incident as a “one off” and said “lessons had been learned”.
“They reside together and are due to be married in May,” he said.
“Too much drink had been taken.”
Sheriff Pino Di Emidio fined Hampsall £400.
