Work on Brechin bridge put back by a week as a result of flooding

Work on Brechin Bridge has been delayed due to flooding in the aftermath of Storm Frank.
The town suffered its highest river water levels in a century as the South Esk overtopped on December 30, with a number of smaller flooding incidents into last week.
The town’s flood-prevention system, due to be completed in the spring, has been credited for saving up to 300 homes along River Street but constant rain has delayed the bridge closing as part of its final stage
A council spokesman said: “The start date for the work at Brechin Bridge has been put back one week following recent events and so will commence on January 26.”
