Angus Council employees arrived in Chapman Drive, Carnoustie, on Monday to install a “multi-unit” with two slides and climbing frame, two springer units, swings for different age groups and a wheelchair-accessible round-about.
The work will take three to four weeks to complete.
Angus Council is investing £37,000 in the project and the work is being carried out by the parks maintenance team.
In November 2013 councillors approved a report which identified 75 playparks to be retained and developed, six playparks to be removed, and 20 that would have no further investment in the future.
A council spokesman said: “The location and style of the playpark meets the new standard for Angus play areas, which is based on national standards for outdoor sport and play provision.
“The new playpark is being sited in north-east Carnoustie as that area does not currently have a playpark.
“It will provide a play area for local children, within walking distance of their homes.”
