The 60-year-old was last seen near the cliffs area of Arbroath. A major search got under way on Thursday evening and resumed on Friday morning. However, with no sign of the woman, the search was called off at 3pm. The woman was last seen near Deil’s Heid. Coastguard, police, an RAF search and rescue helicopter from RAF Kinloss, and both of Arbroath’s lifeboats took part in a major search for the woman. The search was joined by both Montrose RNLI boats at 8.50pm on Thursday, standing down at 10.30pm. An HM Coastguard spokesman said: “Units from Montrose and Arbroath were out today and they carried out a detailed search of the area. “Pending any update, the search has ceased for the time being.” Arbroath councillor David Fairweather said: “Hopefully there will be a good outcome and she’ll be found safe and well.”
