A man who stayed at a Carnoustie hotel without any intention to pay for his lodgings was told he “richly” deserves to be in jail.
Kelvin Clark appeared from custody and admitted obtaining board and lodging from the Station Hotel worth £323.75 without paying or having the intention to do so, between September 25 and 30 2013.
The 52-year-old appeared from custody, as he is serving a four-month sentence, and Forfar Sheriff Court heard he had a similar offence on his record.
Defending, solicitor Michael Boyd said his client had considered appealing his sentence for which he is on remand and had looked into home detention.
Addressing Clark, Sheriff Gregor Murray added: “You richly deserve to be imprisoned for these offences.”
Clark, formerly of Scott Road, Lauder, was given a concurrent two-month sentence, which will dovetail with his expected released date of May 1.
