Tributes have been paid to a “great guy” who died in an accident on the A90 in Angus.
Witold Solski, 65, from Dundee died on the scene following a two-vehicle collision involving a lorry near to the Careston junction between Brechin and Forfar on Wednesday night.
His 30-year-old female passenger and the lorry driver, believed to be from Aberdeenshire, were not hurt.
Witold was a self-employed tradesman and was described as a “great guy”.
Friend Thomasz Zalewski, 37, who owns a Polish food store in Dundee, said: “I was shocked to hear the news about Witold. He just liked to spend time with his family.
“He will be missed he was just a great guy in every way.”
Independent Brechin and Edzell councillor Bob Myles said the crash was a “tragedy” and everyone in the local area would be thinking of Witold’s family at this time.
He said: “Obviously everybody’s thoughts are with the family and friends of the gentleman who was killed.
“Every fatal collision is a tragedy. With a road like the A90 there is a lot of traffic and there’s the potential for things like this to happen but I don’t think it’s any more dangerous than other roads.
Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses to the crash.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Inquiries into the full set of circumstances of the incident are on-going and Tayside Division would appeal for anyone who may have information that could assist officers with their enquiries to contact Police Scotland on 101.
“As with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
