A man was taken to hospital after a serious two-vehicle accident in Angus on Sunday evening.
The crash took place on the A92 near to the Kinnaber Road junction at 6.30pm.
Firefighters used hydraulic cutting gear and stabilisation equipment to free the 64-year-old male driver of a Ford C-Max car who was then taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee by ambulance with what police describe as “serious” injuries.
The 34-year-old driver of the Land Rover, which had been travelling northbound, sustained minor injuries.
The road was closed for several hours whilst an investigation into the circumstances of the collision was carried out.
A police spokesman said: “Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision involving two vehicles on the A92 Montrose to Aberdeen road.
“Officers are particularly keen to trace the driver of a white pick-up style vehicle that was travelling on the A92 at the time of the incident to come forward and contact Police Scotland on 101 to assist officers with their on-going enquiries.
“In addition, anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have seen these vehicles prior to or at the time of the collision should contact police.”
Two fire appliances from Montrose were called to the accident.
