New housing has been mooted on the site of a failed Angus business, it has emerged.
Ross & Bonnyman’s works in Roberts Street, Forfar, closed in February last year with the loss of 80 jobs.
An application for up to 24 homes is in the pipeline after agent John F Graham of Montrose submitted an application for planning permission in principle.
Acting on behalf of Gresham Pension Trustees Ltd and Alan Honig as trustees of Premier SIPP, the site will likely have a new vehicle access from the street and require altered drainage requirements. The land is owned by the applicant.
A drawing of the proposed development reveals a selection of two-storey houses next to the funeral directors. Residents of Roberts Street, Callander Drive and North Street have been notified.
Ross & Bonnyman was a market leader in tail lift manufacture at one time, with a turnover of almost £8 million in 2009.
It is thought a failure to adapt following the sale of its commercial vehicle parts division last year played a key part in its collapse.
