Appliances from across Dundee were sent to East Denside Farm, near Monikie, to tackle the blaze. A building was engulfed in flames and crews worked to ensure the flames did not spread to an adjacent building containing 300 pigs. They were later able to move the animals to a safer area. Firefighters are still putting out the flames but the blaze is now largely under control. However, operations have been complicated by the discovery that chemicals may have been stored nearby, posing an additional risk to fire crews. The emergency services were called to the scene at around midday, with appliances from Kingsway and Balmossie fire stations despatched. The fire was described as “fairly extensive”.
