Police making progress in hunt for masked Arbroath shop raider
ByRob McLaren
Police are still hunting a masked man who stole money from a legal high shop in Arbroath.
On November 22 a man walked into Declaration on Brothock Bridge and stole a three-figure sum of cash from the till. On Friday officers were in the area surrounding the shop asking passersby if they were there the previous week.
Detective Inspector Gary Ogilvie said he had five officers permanently on the “priority inquiry”, adding: “We do not have a named suspect, but we are following positive lines of inquiry.
“We went back to the scene last week and have spoken to a lot of people. We have found nothing to suggest he is not still in Angus.”
The robbery took place at about 3pm and damaged shop fittings before demanding cash from the frightened 48-year-old woman who was working there at the time.
The suspect then left the premises, passing the Central Bar and heading down Marketgate.
At the time he wore a black balaclava, which may have had some sort of pattern on it. His brown eyes and bushy eyebrows could be seen underneath.
Anyone who has any information that could assist the investigation can call police on 101 or speak to any officer.
