The Royal Navy shipped out from Arbroath harbour at the weekend ahead of Operation Joint Warrior.
Last week’s media exercise to mark the start of a massive show of European might was just a glimpse of the huge war game that will run around the Scottish coastline for the next two weeks.
Naval officers and marines were at Arbroath lifeboat shed on Saturday morning as they prepared to ship out to HMS Bulwark, anchored around six miles off the town.
One serviceman revealed shuttle trips were being made to the vessel with supplies, although he would not confirm if any Arbroath smokies had made it on board.
