An Angus man butted somebody so hard they fell into a hedge.
Scott Matheson appeared at Arbroath Sheriff Court on Tuesday following the attack on July 27.
The 25-year-old, of Gedy Place, Arbroath, admitted assaulting a man in the town’s Millgate by butting him, causing him to fall into shrubbery to his injury.
The court heard the altercation began as a play fight between Matheson and a friend in Devitos Nightclub.
Depute fiscal Jill Drummond said a third man had tried to intervene, prompting Matheson to assault him.
She added: “The accused headbutted the witness in the nose. He was propelled into a bush by the force of the headbutt.
“Officers were nearby outside the nightclub and observed the group scuffling with each other.”
The injured man sustained a small cut to the bridge of his nose as a result of the attack.
Defence agent Nick Markowski said the original fight had been between Matheson and his brother.
He said all parties have made up since the incident.
Matheson was fined £150.
