The council has a duty to fix taxi fares and review them at least every 18 months. This was last done in August 2014.
Taxi operators have been contacted and invited to submit their proposals for fares by Friday November 6.
When the review is complete, the council’s civic licensing committee will consider the proposals and determine the taxi fares.
The council had planned to increase tariffs by around 6% last year, until taxi operators and drivers opposed the move on the basis that costs, such as fuel, had reduced since the last review.
The committee then rejected the planned hike in the face of the opposition from the drivers.
