One person has been cut free following a serious crash between a van and a lorry on the A90.
The incident happened just before 10am on the A90 Aberdeen to Dundee road near Castleton Farm at Fordoun.
One vehicle crashed into the central reservation on the busy dual carriageway as a result of the accident.
Both lanes heading southbound were closed following the incident with diversions put in place on the A92 at Stonehaven.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “One person has been cut free.
“Four appliances have been sent to the scene.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed the trauma team were also in attendance at the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We know there are injuries but don’t yet know the extent of them.”
Police units in Dundee have been stationed in laybys and bus stops in the city to clear the path of traffic out of the way of ambulances.
Vehicles are waiting on the A90 and Kingsway to ease the path of casualties to Ninewells Hospital.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “We are assisting another force area following an accident in Aberdeenshire.
“Vehicles have been stationed to clear the path of traffic.”
