Forfar firefighters have tackled a blaze which engulfed a heavy crane carrying 900 litres of diesel on the A90 near Forfar.
The heavy duty industrial machine was travelling on the northbound carriageway just after 11.30am when it caught fire.
Two appliances from Forfar rushed to the incident in a lay-by near the Bogindollo turn-off, a couple of miles north of Forfar and the fire was extinguished using a hose jet.
Police put a rolling roadblock in place on the northbound carriageway whilst the incident was dealt with.
The southbound carriageway remained open and the driver of the crane is understood to have been unhurt in the incident.
It was the second incident in the area.
A woman suffered minor injuries when her car ended up in a field just south of Forfar earlier in the morning.
