Arbroath marine jailed for attacking wife is released
ByThe Courier Reporter
A Royal Marine jailed for assaulting his wife two weeks ago was released after an interim liberation hearing at the High Court of Judiciary in Edinburgh.
Sergeant Wayne Harrison, of 45 Commando, based near Arbroath, was sentenced to 15 months in jail by Sheriff Peter Paterson at Arbroath Sheriff Court after he admitted assaulting his wife on January 14 last year.
He was successful in his appeal for an interim liberation order.
A High Court judge will assess whether there are grounds for an appeal and set a date for this hearing after he receives a copy of Sheriff Paterson’s report, which is due by May 17.
Arbroath Sheriff Court previously heard that the attack, at RM Condor military base to the north of Arbroath, saw Harrison slap, choke and bite his wife while telling her he was going to kill her.
