Hay bales and gate left on rural Angus road in dark

Vandals who pushed two 700kg hay bales and a steel gate on to a rural Angus road in the dark could have killed someone, according to a local policeman.
Two hay bales were rolled on to the Glamis to Newtyle Road, near the junction with Hatton of Eassie, some time between 4.30pm and 8.50pm on Monday.
The bales were rolled from a neighbouring field and a steel gate was used to make a makeshift bridge between them.
Inspector Ray Cuthill said: “A local man driving on the road came to the summit of the blind hill and luckily managed to stop before colliding with the bales but the outcome could have been very different.
“This is a single-carriageway rural road with no street lighting. Any vehicle travelling at any speed colliding with the bales and gate could have resulted in a serious or fatal road collision and I would urge anyone who knows who might be responsible to get in touch with us on 101 or speak to any police officer.”
