The group have been in talks with Angus Council with a view to the community taking over the Christmas lights.
The Kirriemuir and Dean Area Partnership thanked DD8 Music, Kirriemuir Round Table and Angus Council’s Community Grant Scheme for their contribution to their event.
Music was put on in the Square by DD8 Music Youth Group and Forfar Brass Band, and Santa took up residence in the Community Hub for two hours before the lights were switched on with free hot chocolate provided by Kirriemuir Churches Together.
Auchmithie hosted a festive fair on Saturday but a planned “snow queen” walk was cancelled due to the weather.
