The publicis being given the opportunity to enjoy a tour of Montrose’s new £1 million lifeboat station this weekend.
Following the official dedication of the Wharf Street facility last month, on Saturday visitors will get the chance to meet the crew, along with Coastguard personnel who are also participating in the event.
A barbecue, face-painting and bouncy castle will also be part of the 11am to 3pm programme, and with the lifeboat shop also being opened by local committee members it is hoped that the coffers of the station as well as its profile will enjoy a summer boost.
Montrose Lifeboat Guild made a five-figure donation to the fund for the new facility, which was largely delivered through several substantial legacies to maintain the town’s position as one of Scotland’s longest-established lifeboat stations.
Looking to the future, Montrose is due to be the first Scottish station to be equipped with the RNLI’S state-of-the-art Shannon all-weather vessel.
It has been undergoing sea trials and visited Montrose on the day of the station’s official opening to give invited guests a demonstration of its power and manoeuvrability.
