Do cats have their favourite meow-sicians?
Angus cattery owner Suzanne Cargill is looking for an answer by playing a wide range of artists and styles to the pets in her care.
Since opening the Elliot Mews Cattery in Arbroath at the end of July she has been keeping her guests entertained by piping music into their pens.
She said: “The pens have a underfloor heated area that acts like a bedroom and we have put speakers in the ceiling to play music for the cats.
“A lot of owners leave music on when they are out, so the cats are used to hearing it at home. It gives them a familiar sound to listen to.
“I have played songs from my iPod everything from opera to AC/DC.”
Suzanne has also been trying BBC Radio Two.
So far the reaction from the pets has been paw-sitive: “I have not had any objections I am willing to take requests from the owners if they have them,” Suzanne said.
The cattery is also using webcams in the pens, enabling Suzanne to easily keep an eye on the cats.
Suzanne said: “I love cats and wanted to open a cattery which was a bit more luxurious than the traditional wooden shed and run. We have really tried to make it as much as a home from home as possible.”
