Years of entering Courier competitions finally paid off for a dedicated reader.
Claire McBean took delivery of a new Fiat 500 after her name was picked at random from thousands of entries.
A team from The Courier surprised the mother-of-two at her Forfar home last night.
The 43-year-old was left speechless as she was presented with the keys to the pristine motor now sitting in her drive.
Mrs McBean joked with her husband Craig that their two daughters, Lois and Zara, would be fighting over who gets to drive it first.
“I just can’t believe it,” she added. “I really didn’t expect to win at all.
“Our daughters both like Fiats and both said they wanted to get one now they won’t need to.”
Arnold Clark supplied the car for the contest, which has been one of the most popular promotions organised by The Courier.
Mr McBean said his wife was keen to enter the competition after spotting the prize.
“The Courier always has prizes that are a bit different, so she always likes to try and win those,” he said.
“I don’t think either of us expected this, though, so it’s a great wee surprise.”
The couple now plan to let their daughters use the car, as Zara turns 17 next month and will be learning to drive while Lois will be able to travel between Forfar and Aberdeen, where she attends university.
Mrs McBean continued: “Zara has her first lesson next month, so this will be a nice surprise for her. It will be great for Lois nipping back and forth between home and university too.”
Courier editor Richard Neville said: “We are all absolutely delighted for Claire. I hope she has many happy hours of motoring.”
