The deadline to enter this year’s cartie race in Brechin is this Saturday, with organisers keen for as many people as possible to take part.
The popular event will run in the town for its third year on October 18, but teams have to be registered three weeks in advance.
Organisers Bravo Brechin then seek to carry out safety checks of all the carties next Saturday.
Gavin Brymer, who chairs the event’s committee, said: “The check will be on the steering and breaking ability of the carties.
“People will still have a further two weeks to decorate their cartie after this.
“Last year we had 34 teams take part and we are hoping for a similar number this year. We have already had a lot of interest.”
Entry forms can be found on the group’s Facebook page or collected from Brymer Butchers in St David Street.
This year’s course will be the same as last year starting in the town’s High Street and running along Bridge Street and River Street.
The length of the course is 990 metres, making it the biggest event of its kind in Scotland.
There will be an opportunity for toddlers to take part in a specially designed cartie course at Brechin Sports Centre, where there will also be live music during the day.
There will also be stalls in the town’s High Street.
This year the carties will be taken back to the start of the course by tractor.
Gavin added: “It’s a fantastic day out and a lot of fun.
“It’s something that appeals to people of all ages last year we had a 12-year-old and a 70-year-old navigating the course.
“There’s a buzz about the town and it’s a boost for local shops, which is what it’s all about. We are trying to put Brechin on the map with the Bravo events.”
