A long-distance love affair has been sealed with a mega wedding.
Rick and Katie Moynihan enjoyed their big day with family and friends as they took their vows at Inverarity Church, near Forfar, but also shared the special day with a familiar name which has played a pivotal part in bringing them together.
Guests at the event were transported to the church and reception in a Megabus coach after the firm honoured the loyal pair by providing one of its fleet for the big day.
The couple spent two years travelling every weekend between their bases in Dundee and Manchester to see each other, using the low-cost travel company.
They started dating in 2008 when they both lived in Dundee but soon after Katie, who grew up in Brechin, was promoted and moved south.
To keep their relationship alive, they committed to visiting each other as often as possible and became Megabus regulars.
A couple of years later, Rick, 34, originally from Birkdale near Southport, also moved to Manchester and the couple moved in together. They both still work in the city, but have now made Marsden in West Yorkshire their home.
As Megabus had played such an important and well-known role in their lives while dating, they approached the company to hire a vehicle for the weekend and were delighted when the firm agreed to donate the coach free of charge for the day.
Katie, 30, said: “Megabus.com has been a huge part of our relationship and whenever one drives past us we smile and remember all our travel stories, the people we met on it and how easy this company made the long distance for us.”
Megabus mascot Sid turned up to wish the couple well at their reception in the Reid Hall.
