An Angus man has been jailed for four months after assaulting his partner.
Fraser Simpson, 36, North Grimsby, Arbroath, appeared at the town’s sheriff court yesterday after the incident on June 20.
He admitted assaulting his partner by repeatedly punching her head, kicking her body, slapping her head and seizing her throat.
The court heard that Simpson arrived at an address in North Grimsby at around 1am and was let in by his partner on the condition there would be no argument.
Depute fiscal Hazel Anderson said: “Once inside he did just that.
“He stood up and punched her on the head, causing her left eyebrow to bleed. He kicked her on the leg several times and continued to punch her repeatedly on the head.”
Defence agent Billy Rennie said words had been exchanged by both parties and claimed Simpson was trying to get away from the relationship.
Sheriff Peter Paterson said he had no choice but a jail term as the assault was a third domestic offence.
