An Angus man has been fined £100 for assaulting his wife.
Graham Wood, 49, of Montquhir Farm Cottage, Carmyllie, appeared at Arbroath Sheriff Court on Tuesday where he was sentenced for his part in the incident which took place on January 28 this year.
The court had previously heard how the couple had had an argument and Wood’s spouse left the house.
He consumed a large quantity of alcohol in her absence and when she returned Wood confronted her and asked why she had not answered his calls before he carried out the assault.
The accused had been given a six-month deferred sentence to be of good behaviour after expressing “deep regret” when he previously appeared and admitted the charge.
Wood’s solicitor explained to Sheriff Peter Paterson that the relationship between both parties is now over and both had filed for divorce.
The defence agent said: “He has been of good behaviour and the relationship is over. He is working at a local saw mill and has done well during the deferred sentence.”
