Arbroath man ‘in a rage’ locked girlfriend in a flat
ByThe Courier Reporter
An Angus man locked his girlfriend in a flat after an argument in which he seized her by the wrists, a court heard.
Forfar Sheriff Court heard how Daryl Black, of Benedict Road, Arbroath had been in a stormy relationship with the complainer in the weeks leading up to the offence on May 13 in Prosen Road.
Black admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting and swearing, threw a mirror, pulled a bannister from the wall, seized a phone from a female complainer, seized her wrists, prevented her from leaving and locked her in a flat against her will.
The 21-year-old was sentenced to a 12-month community payback order with 100 hours of unpaid work and attendance on an anger management course.
Fiscal depute Hannah Kennedy said the complainer text messaged Black to say she wanted to be with someone else and he “flew into a rage.”
