Four Scottish rugby stars paid a special visit to Montrose Rugby Club on Saturday to encourage youngsters to follow in their footsteps.
Scotland’s record cap holder Chris Paterson and current international Matt Scott attended Union Park with Michael Fedo and Chris Dean from the Scotland Sevens squad.
The event kicked off the Royal Bank of Scotland RugbyForce initiative for 2013 a programme which supports local rugby clubs for their future.
The RBS Six Nations Trophy was also flown up from London for the event, accompanied by two security guards. The chairman of the Scottish Rugby Union, Sir Moir Lockhead, also attended the event.
Duncan Campbell, junior rugby convenor at Montrose Rugby Club, said: “It was a great day and we welcomed families from across Angus to Union Park.
“Chris, Matt and the sevens players joined in with games, provided signatures and there were photo opportunities with the players and the Six Nations trophy.
“Being selected as one of the RBS RugbyForce clubs has been fantastic recognition for all of our volunteers that have help us grow Montrose Rugby over recent years.
“As we head into the new season, our junior section will have squads for boys and girls, from primary one to under-18.”
