A former Angus prison could be set for a new lease of life after plans to transform it into homes were revealed.
Developers hope to create dozens of new homes at the empty HM Prison Noranside near Forfar. A proposal of application notice has now been approved by Angus Council.
The plans include converting the existing listed buildings on the site into affordable homes, as well as installing new-build houses.
If approved, the site of the former prison could provide 35 new homes, which would aim to include five units of affordable housing. The open prison was closed in August two years ago, with all the inmates moved to Castle Huntly.
William Lippe Architects Ltd, based in Inverurie in Aberdeenshire, has given notice to the council that they plan to make an application for planning permission to convert the former open prison, in Fern.
The site area for the application is 27.8 hectares.
