Tributes have been paid to a 41-year-old Angus man found dead in his flat.
Vincent Byrne was discovered lying behind a door at his home in Restenneth Drive, Forfar, on Monday night.
Family member Nicky Byrne sent an emotional message to her cousin via Facebook.
She wrote: “No words can say what I’m thinking…love and miss you forever.”
Emergency services attended the ground floor flat around 9pm on Monday after the alarm was raised. Neighbours reported a heavy police presence and saw paramedics entering the flat that evening.
Officers remained stationed outside Mr Byrne’s door until Tuesday afternoon.
A police spokeswoman said: “It (the death) is being treated as unexplained at this time and as with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
It is understood that Mr Byrne attended Webster’s High School in Kirriemuir and studied at Abertay University in Dundee.
He listed his favourite quotation online as: “The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed staff had been unable to save his life.
