The brother of an Angus man killed 18 months ago still believes someone will “pay the price” despite a police investigation being stood down.

The Courier can reveal Police Scotland no longer have an inquiry team dedicated to investigating the unexplained death of Carnoustie man Tony English.

A spokeswoman for the force confirmed further information will be investigated should it “come to light”.

More than a year-and-a-half has passed since the discovery of the 59-year-old’s body at his Kinloch Street home in December 2011, and a full-scale probe has failed to bring anybody to justice.

Brother Damian, 52, voiced his frustration at the case remaining unsolved and said officers now seem to be pinning all hopes on fresh information coming from the public.

“We are still hopeful that the guy who murdered Tony will still pay the price for what he did,” he said.
