Forfar residents have been assured that the impressive stained glass windows of the historic Town and County Hall have not been permanently removed from the building.
The B-listed town centre property, which hosts meetings of Angus Council, is in the midst of a £20,000 upgrade.
The project includes replacement and repainting of several windows, including windows at first-floor level which house four impressive stained glass panels.
Following their disappearance from the facade, a council spokesman moved to allay fears over their removal.
“The stained glass panels have never sat proud and exposed to the street,” they said.
“They were installed in a secondary framed system behind the external windows, and once work to fit the new external clear frames is completed, then the stained glass panels will be refitted to the rear in the same way.”
