A young Monifieth driver clocked at 117 miles an hour on the A90 trunk road through Angus has been fined and banned.
Earlier this week, Robbie Miller had been found guilty after trial of driving dangerously on the dual carriageway between Clatterha and Marcus on September 20 last year.
A traffic officer said the rate Miller was travelling at would have been “almost definitely fatal” if the 21-year-old’s Citroen Saxo had suffered a blow-out.
Miller, of Murroes Place, returned to court on Thursday to be sentenced by Sheriff Kevin Veal at Forfar Sheriff Court.
He fined Miller £600 and imposed a 12-month ban, having applied an interim disqualification immediately following his conviction.
Miller must also sit an extended test upon expiry of his ban.
