Angus Council is leading an award-winning tourism marketing project.
The project is supported by the European Regional Development Fund, working with six east of Scotland partners.
Focused on the four niche markets of golf, outdoor activity, food and drink, and heritage, it supports the marketing initiatives of rural businesses to help stimulate local and regional tourism.
The East of Scotland Rural Tourism Business Support Project was recently recognised at the EU Structural Funds Publicity Awards in Glasgow, where it picked up an award for innovative tourism marketing techniques.
Angus Council’s tourism spokeswoman, Mairi Evans, said: “I’m delighted that our promotion and support of rural tourism has been given this award recognition.
“We’ve got some fantastic rural tourism initiatives in this area and effective marketing is critical to their success.”
The project began in April 2010 and runs until next March. The project partners are: Angus, Fife, East Lothian and Aberdeenshire councils; Fife Coast and Countryside Trust; Banffshire Coast Tourism Partnership and Scottish Enterprise.
