Police probe claims of youths aiming gun at train in Angus

A train driver passing through Angus has reported seeing what looked like two youths aiming a gun at him.
Police are looking to speak to the boys, who were seen on a bridge over track near Montrose at 9.30am on Thursday.
The driver of the 08:42 ScotRail train from Aberdeen to Glasgow reported the sighting of what he thought was a pistol to emergency services.
Officers from British Transport Police and Police Scotland trawled the Usan area in a bid to find the pair. There were no reports of shots being fired during the incident.
A spokesman for the British Transport Police said: “Shortly before 9.30am, the driver of the 08:42 Aberdeen to Glasgow Queen Street reported seeing two youths standing on an over-bridge in the vicinity of Usan, near Montrose. They were seen with what was described as a firearm.
“The area was immediately searched by officers from the British Transport Police and Police Scotland and no-one was found.
The BTP ask that any witness or those with information that could help, calls 0800 405040, or send an SMS text message to 61016. The driver did not stop the train and its passengers did not experience a delay.
