A Tayside man will stand trial accused of abducting a woman and a child and locking them in a house for about a week.
Richard Forrester allegedly held the pair against their will at an address in Angus for approximately seven days.
It is claimed that the 35-year-old took a mobile phone from the woman before detaining her and the child against their will.
Forrester, from Arbroath, is also charged with two counts of rape, four assaults, a breach of the peace and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, at various addresses in Dundee and Arbroath.
In one of the assaults, he is alleged to have laid on top of a child, placed the child in a headlock and thrown the youngster from the top of a set of stairs.
He is then alleged to have started driving a car before the child was strapped into a car seat causing the youngster to fall off the chair and strike the front seat.
Forrester also allegedly uttered threats to kill the child by driving off the Tay Road Bridge in a car.
Meanwhile, Forrester is alleged to have assaulted a woman by pushing her against walls, uttering threats of violence towards her, repeatedly striking her with a door, and brandishing a knife at her and threatening to assault her with the blade, at various addresses in Arbroath.
He is accused of assaulting the same woman on another occasion in the town.
Forrester is alleged to have assaulted another woman at an address in Dundee, by seizing her on the throat and slapping her, pinning her against a door, throwing a remote control at her, and while she was sleeping, dragging her from a bed by her hair and kicking her on the body.
He is also alleged to have raped the same woman on two different occasions, also in Dundee.
Forrester is further alleged to have committed a breach of the peace at various locations in Arbroath and elsewhere, by sitting in a car near a woman’s home and the home of family members, causing fear and alarm.
And he is charged with behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by persistently parking outside a woman’s house in Dundee and placing her and members of her family in a state of fear or alarm.
Forrester will stand trial at the High Court in Edinburgh on April 28.
