Asda wins conditional approval for fuel station at new Arbroath Westway store

Asda has been given outline planning approval for the first unmanned filling station in Angus.
The store is looking to build a two-pump outlet beside its store on Arbroath’s Westway Retail Park, which opened just before Christmas last year.
Approval has been granted subject to conditions, but there is still some red tape to cut through before work can start.
A spokeswoman for Angus Council said: ”The planning application by Asda for a filling station at the Westway, Arbroath, has been approved subject to a condition relating to commencement of development.
”However, there are a number of other statutory consents and licences which are required before a filling station can be built at that site.”
The planned site is in the southern corner of the Asda car park.
