A freakish sandstorm caused visibility problems for drivers on a stretch of road in Angus.
Winds through the Vale of Strathmore around Forfar and Kirriemuir caused clouds of sand to spread over the A90, peaking in mid-afternoon on Monday and leading to police warnings.
The A94 between Forfar and Glamis and the A926 from Forfar to Kirriemuir were particularly affected and a light sand build-up at the side of the road also caused a hazard.
Police warned people to avoid several side roads in the area which were down to zero visibility but no accidents were reported during the sandstorm.
The National Farmers Union reported the impact on crops in the area could cost farmers tens of thousands of pounds but NFU Scotland said its main concern was soil erosion.
Jeremy Parker, a spokesman in Forfar said: “Crop establishment will be adversely affected by loss of nutrients, loss of windblown soil affecting the effective sowing depth, possible loss of seed, etc.”
