A crowd of youths are being sought in connection with an alleged racist incident in Angus, police have said.
Officers are investigating reports of racism directed at a lone adult in Brechin on Friday.
The group of five or six teenagers, all aged about 15, allegedly made abusive comments to a person on Park Road at 8pm.
Constable Bill Rattray told The Courier more information was being sought and the report was “unacceptable”.
“I have to stress that this is a very rare occurrence in this area,” he said.
“I have worked in Brechin for some time now and this is the first incident of this kind that comes to mind since I’ve been here.
“So it’s fair to say that this is a fairly isolated incident.”
A police spokeswoman confirmed an incident happened at 8pm on Friday, and that police were still investigating the circumstances.
She said: “If anyone was in the area of Park Road at the time of the alleged incident, or was a witness at the scene, please contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, or speak to any officer.”
