A newly-wed mum-to-be has been fined for attacking another woman in an early hours street incident.
Jenna Daun punched, kicked and headbutted her victim on the way home from a Forfar nightclub after claiming that the woman had goaded her about sleeping with the man she recently married.
Daun, 21, of Glenogil Terrace, appeared at the town’s sheriff court on Thursday where she admitted the January 20 assault on Don Street.
Depute fiscal Nicola Gillespie said the accused and the victim were known to each other and had found themselves together in the Club One nightclub on North Street.
“Whilst there the complainer appeared to be having difficulty keeping on her feet and grabbed hold of a man,” said the fiscal. “The accused saw this happening and said she was to get away from her man.”
Around 2am the victim and her friend left the club and were walking home when they became aware of the accused and her partner behind them.
“The accused approached the complainer from behind, pulled her to the ground and repeatedly punched and kicked her,” the court was told.
The victim’s friend was able to pull Daun off her and the pair then ran back to the nightclub where they reported the incident to police there.
Although the woman sustained bruising and was taken to A&E after being seen by paramedics, she left there before being given treatment.
Defence agent Bob Bruce said his client’s version of events was that the other woman had goaded her in the nightclub about having slept with the man who was now her husband, and that continued when they met again in the nearby street.
“She was married in the past few months, is due to give birth in December and it appears that this was very much a one-off,” said Mr Bruce.
Fining Daun £300, Sheriff Ian Anderson said: “Whatever difference there may be in the version of events, the effect is that you attacked your victim in the way to which you have pled guilty.”
