An Angus man who admitted sending a woman threatening and obscene voicemails had his sentence deferred.
Brian Milne (27), of Slade Gardens, Kirriemuir, appeared from custody at Arbroath Sheriff Court where he pleaded guilty to the offence, which related to an incident at his home on February 24.
Milne admitted sending messages to the woman which were grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character, threatening the woman with violence and threatening to damage property.
The accused’s defence agent told the court how Milne, who is also subject to a community payback order in relation to the same complainer, had “issues in relation to his mental health” and is seeing a psychiatric nurse every other day.
Depute fiscal Jill Drummond told Sheriff Fife the Crown opposed granting Milne bail if sentence was deferred but added if he was to be bailed, then he must not contact the complainer or enter their address.
Sheriff Fife told Milne: “In your case, sentence will be deferred to enable an up-to-date criminal justice social work report to be obtained.”
Milne was released on bail with the special conditions attached and is next due to appear on March 28 at Forfar Sheriff Court for sentencing.
