A Pictish-themed pub and a fast food restaurant have been tipped to provide up to 80 jobs for the Angus economy.
Preparatory work is under way at the Orchardbank Business Park in Forfar, at which Marston’s pub The Dunnichen Stone will be built, along with a KFC.
Both businesses should be operational this year, and Angus Council stated the development represents an investment of more than £5 million in the town, creating an estimated 80 jobs.
Marston’s chose the 1,400-year-old Pictish lith as the name and theme for the pub, one of the chain’s first Scottish outlets.
The local authority developed Orchardbank with the Muir Group, and began work on council buildings in 2005.
William Wallace and St Margaret’s were followed by Angus House in 2007.
The other existing tenants are Guide Dogs for the Blind and Astute.
Economic development spokeswoman Mairi Evans said: “The news that KFC and Marston’s are moving here (the business park) make it a far more attractive and feasible option for operators.
“This will bring local jobs to the area, boost the economy, provide residents and visitors with more facilities and raise the profile of the park to other potential tenants.”
