Emergency services were called to an address in Brechin just before 10am after a report of a blaze in a kitchen. Crews from Brechin and Montrose, attended at 35 Bridge Street. Firefighters entered the property but found the blaze had been put out. The woman, who is understood to be the occupant of the flat, was treated for smoke inhalation. Firefighters carried out initial treatment before handing over to paramedics. A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed the woman did not require hospital treatment. The fire started after a toaster went up in flames. A spokeswoman for the fire service said the woman’s community alarm had been activated. She added: “The property was ventilated and no other equipment was required as the fire had been extinguished prior to our arrival.”
