Forfar man left footprint on woman’s back after attack

An attack left a woman with the impression of a footprint on her back, Forfar Sheriff Court heard.
Dean James Stewart Niven (27), of Viewmount, Forfar, admitted assaulting Vicki Smith, seizing her by the arms, throwing her against a wall and knocking her to the ground.
He further admitted dragging her by the body, repeatedly punching her on the face and head, punching her on the body and knocking her to the ground and repeatedly stamping on her back, all to her severe injury on Glenogil Terrace, Forfar, on January 7.
He also admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear and alarm in that he acted in an aggressive and intimidating manner, took possession of a knife, repeatedly shouted and swore and made abusive comments to Ms Smith and pursued her into the street.
Sheriff Kevin Veal deferred sentence until May 9 for reports.
