The organisers of the Angus Ambassador Awards are reminding potential contributors that the deadline for nominations for this year’s awards is September 24.

Angus Ahead is looking for someone, or a group, a business or an organisation who deserves recognition for what they have achieved or established for the people of the district.

“Perhaps you’ve done something over the last 12 months that has further enhanced the reputation of Angus as a great place to live, work and visit,” an Angus Ahead spokesman said.

“This scheme, which has been running for 11 years, highlights the people, businesses and organisations which have made a difference to some aspect of life in Angus.

“If you know of a person, business or organisation who has added to the excellent reputation of Angus €” or if you have made a contribution to the county’s reputation at home or abroad €” let the judges know by submitting an application form.”

The judges are looking for success stories €” the projects, initiatives and ideas that have brought the district and its people into the spotlight.

The judges, a panel of community, business and arts representatives, will select three finalists for each of the six categories.

Every finalist will appear in a specially-commissioned short film which will be shown at the awards evening on November 26, where the finalists will be the guests of honour.

The winner of each category will receive a trophy to commemorate their success, with the added bonus of a cheque for £500 for the winner of the community ambassador award, while the youth ambassador award winner receives £300.

The awards evening also provides networking opportunities.

Several local companies and organisations have already signed up to sponsor five of the awards.

Enterprise North East Trust are sponsoring the business ambassador award, GlaxoSmithKline the community ambassador award, Merpro Ltd the international award and Angus College is sponsoring the youth ambassador award, while Piperdam Golf and Leisure is sponsoring the awards’ ultimate accolade €” Angus Ambassador of Year 2010.
