A BRECHIN man who groped a fellow pub-goer publicly apologised in court to her yesterday.
Kevin Gillon Ferguson (31), of Esk Park Terrace, appeared before Sheriff Kevin Veal at Forfar where he admitted assaulting the woman by slapping her buttock and touching her breast in Hudson’s, Clerk Street, Brechin, on October 28.
Fiscal depute Hazel Anderson told the court the victim was “naturally upset” by the accused’s conduct.
Defence agent Nick Markwoski said the 22-year-old victim was known to the accused through a previous family connection.
“He regrets his actions and would like to apologise publicly,” said the agent.
Sheriff Kevin Veal imposed a 12-month community payback order with a condition of 100 hours’ unpaid work.
He told the slaughterhouse worker: “High spirits are one thing, but this was over the line.”
