SCOTTISH ACTOR and director Alan Cumming experienced a homecoming of sorts when he spent a weekend in Carnoustie.
Cumming (47) was born in Aberfeldy and lived in Dunkeld before moving to Panmure Estate, near the Angus town, in 1969.
The actor, who starred in Bond movie Goldeneye, visited his old house, where he said he had a tough upbringing, and his old school.
He tweeted yesterday about his visit, saying: “I had my very own high school reunion yesterday!”
Cumming, who received a 1994 Olivier Award nomination for best actor in a musical for Cabaret, added: “Today I went back to the house I grew up in. I expected to feel sad, and I did, but most of all I felt relieved.”
It was at Carnoustie High School that he first appeared in plays, then with Carnoustie Theatre Club and Carnoustie Musical Society.
While waiting to enter drama school, Cumming worked as a sub-editor on the DC Thomson publication Tops in 1981.
