Angus Council launches probe into ‘inappropriate images’ on school network
ByThe Courier Reporter
Angus primary pupils downloaded explicit pictures and images of sex predator Jimmy Savile using a school computer network today.
Angus Council has launched an investigation after an 11-year-old Arbroath girl was confronted with shots of the disgraced TV presenter and a photo of a topless woman, while in class.
A Courier source said the youngster, from the town’s Inverbrothock Primary School, reported the distressing episode during a morning lesson, after logging on to a secure email account usually reserved for coursework.
The email system uses a child’s surname and first initial in tandem with a password, and is linked to the Scottish schools’ Glow network, which claims to provide “a trusted and safe environment” for pupils, practitioners and parents.
A council spokeswoman confirmed the incident involved pupils sending “inappropriate images” to another pupil.
