ByThe Courier Reporter
A navy bomb squad was scrambled to Angus when police found “trophies of war” at a private address.
Second World War munitions were discovered by officers at a house in Brechin during a routine call-out.
Tayside Police control room was alerted around 4.20pm on Wednesday and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was contacted to deal with the potentially dangerous items.
Inspector David Scott said: “Officers found what I would describe as inert trophies of war at an address in Brechin.
“An EOD team was called to the scene as a precaution to check it out. There was no danger to the public at any time.”
It is understood the items found at the scene may have been there for up to 20 years.
Nobody was injured during the incident and all devices were safely removed from the scene.
A police investigation will begin this morning.
