NEARLY £200,000 has been secured to investigate the viability of a new health and care venue for Brechin.
The grant funding from the East Central Scotland hub will be used to look into the potential development of a centre that would house community health, social care and emergency services.
Members of Angus Council strategic policy committee will consider a report detailing the next steps for the plan today.
A review of current properties in Brechin has revealed that several services are operating from buildings “not ideally fit for purpose”.
A total of £191,577 has been awarded to look into the prospect of amalgamating some services within the same site.
In his report to the committee, the council’s chief executive Richard Stiff said the opportunity to secure funds had come up at short notice.
“Discussions with the East Central Scotland hub indicated that the Brechin proposal had a high chance of scoring well in the bidding process, if an application was submitted.
“Advice was sought from senior officers in each of the partner organisations, and a bid for enabling funds was submitted.”
