Nearly 1,000 images of child sex abuse were found on a 20-year-old Tayside man’s computer.
David Reany, of Lethnot Road, Arbroath, was convicted on an indictment of possession of indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children between February 12 and 15 last year, during an appearance at Arbroath Sheriff Court.
The court heard that factory worker Reany, who lives at home with his parents, had been the subject of Tayside Police investigation after officers were alerted to inappropriate conversations with girls aged 15 and 17 via a website.
Depute fiscal Jill Drummond said: “Various inquiries were carried out and traced back to the accused. A search warrant was obtained and officers attended and searched the locus on February 15.”
A laptop and two electronic notebooks were found. A total of 954 live images of child abuse were discovered ranging from levels one to four on the crown’s definitive scale.
A further 11,435 pictures were found that were deemed “concerning,” although not indecent.
Sheriff Peter Paterson deferred sentence for reports and a psychological assessment.
